Married in the apple orchard on a beautiful autumn day

This last weekend was joyfully spent once again with my family in Wisconsin as we celebrated my nephew Shaun's marriage to the beautiful April Dean. It could not have been lovelier, as the ceremony was in an apple orchard on the most magnificent of autumn days. My boys spent the weekend playing with their cousins, and Dan & I enjoyed a few moments reuniting with family members and soaking up the all around goodness.
One of the highlights of my weekend was sharing my old albums and record player with Elliot, Quinton and my nephew Warren. The demonstration began with me holding up a record and proclaiming "This is called a record." What a riot. I am the youngest of five children, with a 20 year span between me and my oldest brother Ned. Therefore, you can imagine the collection of old albums and 45's. The boys have also discovered my old collection of Strawberry Shortcake dolls, complete with their favorite "The Peculiar Purple Pieman of Porcupine Peak" whose naughty mission in life is to send his birds to steal berries from the berry friends and make pies. So the boys particularly enjoyed my old story telling album of Strawberry Shortcake and her friends.
However, testosterone will have its influence. At one point I heard Elliot telling Quinton his own version of how the Purple Pieman had journeyed to "the dark side." And at another time I think Huckleberry Pie had a light saver sword. I'm sure as I write that Blueberry Muffin is preparing for her first mission as a Jedi Knight on the Millennium Falcon.
Sigh. May the force be with you all.
