"I think I'm still alive." These were my father's words, said with a crooked Neil smile, upon returning to our flat this morning. After I took the boys to school the three of us ventured out into Crouch End. Mom & Dad had their first red bus ride, first European shopping, and most importantly, their first European cafe experience and Dunn's bakery doughnuts. I am so enjoying what they are each noticing and taking in. Mom absorbs the people and shopping, Dad the traffic and people watching as well. For my siblings and any of Dad's siblings who are reading this - you can only imagine the running commentary coming out of my father's mouth. I alternated between laughing at his observations and shooshing him - reminding him that he just used his outside voice to convey an opinion.
We had cocoa at the Natural Cafe, and then headed home to enjoy our bakery purchases. No words are necessary, as this picture of my mom says it all. I believe that their shock of the big city was balanced out by some good fun. Tomorrow France.
